The Interchange Desk position is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Interchange desk and supporting the efficient movement of containers and equipment throughout the depot.
This role is responsible for inspecting inbound and outbound containers, accurately processing equipment inventory through the company's software system, maintaining records, and providing clear direction to drivers regarding the appropriate locations for loading and unloading.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Depot team, maintenance staff, truck drivers, customers, and members of the public in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner.
Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming and outgoing containers and accurately identify and document any damage or discrepancies.
- Process the in-gate and out-gate of equipment and containers using the company's software system.
- Maintain accurate physical and digital container and equipment inventory.
- Direct truck drivers to the appropriate locations for loading and unloading.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, customers, maintenance staff, and other team members.
- Maintain accurate customer and equipment records and generate reports as required.
- Assist with coordinating daily depot activities and ensuring the efficient flow of containers and equipment.
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
- Work collaboratively with the Depot team to support safe and efficient operations.

- Previous experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, administration, customer service, or a similar operational environment is considered an asset.
- Experience or knowledge of intermodal freight, container operations, or equipment management is an asset, but not required.
- Comfortable learning and using computer software and digital inventory systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with drivers, customers, and team members.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced outdoor and industrial environment.
- Flexibility to work overtime or occasional weekends as operationally required.
