S-FAB Fabrication Inc. is a sister company to Safety Power Inc.; a leading Canadian cleantech company, supplying to the data centre industry. Our equipment removes nitrogen oxides, particulates and other harmful emissions most commonly for diesel engines used for backup power; end users of our systems include Amazon, Google and Microsoft.
The General Labourer supports fabrication and manufacturing operations by assisting with basic fabrication tasks and shop organization. This role is hands-on and works closely with welders, fabricators and operators to ensure efficient production and a safe work environment.
Main Responsibilities & Duties
- Assist fabricators and welders with day-to-day production tasks.
- Prepare materials and components for welding and assembly.
- Package, label and prepare finished products for shipping.
- Stage, transfer and relocate raw materials to meet production schedule and demands.
- Fit and install insulation material according to job specifications for given reactor model, ensuring all required documentation is signed off and uploaded, as required.
- Operate range of hand tools (impact drill, insulation knife, hammer, tape measure) and machinery.
- Complete production logs and documentation in accordance with company specifications.
- Work collaboratively with all team members to ensure safety and production goals are met.
- Keep work area organized and perform general housekeeping prior to end of shift.
- Promote a strong safety culture, enforcing safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
- Perform all work in a safe manner in compliance with Company specifications, including all local, provincial and federal regulations (OSHA, ESA, CSA, etc.) Immediately report unsafe conditions to Team Leader / Production Manager within the department.
- Other duties as assigned by Team Leader / Production Manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years experience within a production/manufacturing, construction or industrial labour environment.
- Comfortable operating required equipment/tools in a safe manner with the ability to readily determine the types needed to complete a task.
- Basic math and geometry proficiency are essential to ensure accurate measurements, cuts and installations.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to work in a team and independently to complete daily activities.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
Job Demands & Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, vibration and metal dust.
- Effectively perform in a fast-paced environment, and sometimes high stress situations.
- Exposure to welding fumes and dust, as well as air born insulation, for which masks are available.
- Required to lift and handle heavy objects up to 50 lb throughout the full shift.
- Ability to climb or balance, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and twist, and climb throughout entire shift.
- Required to wear designated PPE as required (gloves, respirator, safety glasses, safety boots, ear plugs).
- May require overtime, shift work depending on production demand.

Pay: $23.00-$26.00 per hour
