RADIOFREQUENCY ENGINEER/TECHNICIAN

Best Theratronics Ltd. is a Canadian component of TeamBest™. Formerly part of MDS Nordion, we became a member of the Best family in May 2008. We manufacture external beam therapy units and self-contained blood irradiators. We have created a new product line of cyclotrons (B15p, B25p, B35p and the B70p) for radioisotope production. The team brings with it a diverse range of knowledge from around the world and we are currently growing our cyclotron manufacturing team in Ottawa. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for a Radiofrequency engineer or technician to join our cyclotron manufacturing team at Best Theratronics Ltd. in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The candidate will have an engineering or technical degree from an accredited institution with minimum 2 to 5 years experience in the particle accelerator field or 10 years demonstrated knowledge in a similar relevant field of engineering. The candidate will report to the Project Coordinator at the manufacturing plant in Ottawa and work closely under the supervision of the RF Senior engineer at the Design office from Vancouver, BC. The primary role will involve working on all components of a cyclotron radiofrequency system: resonators, radiofrequency power amplifiers, transmission line components and low level RF control. The position will also involve traveling for installation and servicing of the cyclotrons radiofrequency systems at customer locations. Immediate responsibilities include:
Provide engineering/technical support for the development, design, assembly and test of the high power radiofrequency amplifiers, resonant cavities, RF control and transmission lines.Responsible for the commissioning of the cyclotron radiofrequency system.Responsible for the maintenance and improvements of the radiofrequency system.Acquire the knowledge of designing such system.Learn the cyclotron as a complex system to be able to efficiently work with colleagues in the cyclotron team.Have an excellent understanding of processes, process control and technical documentation of those processes.Issuing technical reports throughout the radiofrequency system commissioning, documenting the work and report files in various software platforms,Estimates and reports time needed to complete tasks to the project manager
Long-term responsibilities include:
Performs installation, maintenance and repair of Best Cyclotron radiofrequency systems products worldwide.
Trouble shoots and diagnoses technical problems on-site and over the phone.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have completed a recognized Radiofrequency or Electrical engineering or technologist program and demonstrate computer skills.
Must have strong electro-mechanical aptitude and be able to perform electrical/mechanical trouble shooting.
Knowledge to use general electronic test equipment as well as specific radiofrequency measuring equipment is a must
Read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and diagnose electrical equipment.
Advanced computer skills and knowledge of various office software. Knowledge of operating Human Machine Interface(HMI) control windows for process controls on Siemens WinCC and LabView platforms. CST Microsoft Studiok nowledge is an asset.
Proactive, self motivated, results focused. Ability to perform with continuous attention to detail.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing within the team as well as with customers to co-ordinate all servicework and training.
Experience in accelerator technologies is highly desirable.
Minimum 5 years experience in work related environment is required.

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
