Square One Paving Ltd. is looking for a reliable, hardworking Working Crew Lead to join our field team.
This is a hands on position for someone who can lead a small crew while working alongside them. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the job site, keeps the crew moving, pays attention to quality, and can be trusted to get the work done properly.
This is not traditional paving. We specialize in decorative and high performance surface systems installed on asphalt and concrete for municipal, commercial, and residential projects.
What You'll Do
- Lead and work alongside a small field crew
- Organize daily tasks and keep the crew productive
- Review job requirements with the office before mobilization
- Ensure materials, tools and equipment are ready for each project
- Coordinate job-site setup and daily workflow
- Complete hands-on installation work with the crew
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail
- Identify site issues and communicate them promptly
- Complete daily safety/tailgate meetings and required field documentation
- Track job progress, hours and materials
- Take job-site and completion photos
- Ensure equipment and work areas are properly cleaned and secured
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors and site representatives
- Travel within BC when required
Who We're Looking For
We care more about work ethic, leadership and reliability than having experience with our exact products. We can train the right person on our installation systems.
You should be someone who:
- Has experience leading or taking responsibility for a construction or field crew
- Is comfortable working physically alongside the team
- Shows up on time and can be counted on
- Takes initiative without needing constant direction
- Can give clear instructions and hold a crew accountable
- Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in finished work
- Can problem solve when conditions change on site
- Communicates well with both the crew and office
- Is comfortable working outdoors and performing physical work
- Is willing to work varying hours depending on project requirements
- Is willing to travel within BC for certain projects
Requirements
- Valid driver's licence
- Reliable transportation
- Construction, trades, roadwork, landscaping, concrete, coatings or similar field experience preferred
- Previous crew lead, lead hand or supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Ability to perform physically demanding work
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
- Comfortable operating tools and equipment
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
