We are seeking a reliable, friendly, and efficient Cashier to join our fast-paced gas station and convenience store team. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, handle POS transactions accurately, and maintain a clean, fully-stocked, and organized work environment. This role requires a strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and the physical capability to assist with daily store operations, including inventory stocking and our propane exchange/refill program. Responsibilities
- Customer Service & Sales: Greet customers warmly, process fuel, convenience store, and car wash transactions accurately using the POS system.
- Upselling: Actively promote daily store promotions, up-sell car wash packages, and related products to maximize store revenue.
- Inventory & Stocking: Receive deliveries, organize the stockroom, and continuously restock shelves, coolers, and outdoor displays (e.g., windshield washer fluid, cases of water/beverages).
- Propane Exchange & Refill: Safely facilitate the outdoor propane tank exchange and refill program for customers, strictly adhering to all safety guidelines.
- Store Maintenance: Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the cashier area, aisles, slush machine, and restrooms. Ensure all outdoor areas (pumps and garbage bins) are clean and presentable.
- Safety & Compliance: Strictly follow all age-restricted sales policies (alcohol, tobacco, lottery) and ensure compliance with all site health, safety, and security procedures.
Requirements
- Experience: Previous retail, cash-handling, or customer service experience is strongly preferred. Familiarity with POS systems and lottery terminals is a major asset.
- Required Certifications (Pre-employment Condition): Must possess a valid Smart Serve Ontario Certificate and a valid TSSA-approved Propane Refill/Handling License prior to official employment. (Note: If you do not currently hold these certifications, you are still welcome to apply, but you must be willing to obtain them independently as a mandatory pre-condition before your official start date and first scheduled shift).
- Physical Capabilities: Must be physically capable of standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and safely lifting/carrying items weighing up to 30-50 lbs (such as cases of drinks, washer fluid, and exchanging propane tanks). (Note: This is a Bona Fide Occupational Requirement for this position).
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills in English to effectively interact with customers and resolve inquiries.
- Reliability & Punctuality: Exceptional time management skills and a commitment to being on time for all scheduled shifts.
- Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the business.
