Cantiro is recruiting for a new member of our Estimating team.
Job Summary:
The Estimator will be responsible for the preparation of estimations for individual construction projects. You'll join a skilled team of experienced Estimators who report into the Production Manager.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Prepare material take offs, labour and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully carry out a construction project according to proposals, plans, estimates and specifications
- Cost estimating – conceptual, preliminary and detailed –
- Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of all tender documents on multi-family developments.
- Prepare, review and analyze tender submissions received for accuracy; revise proposals; compare pricing across all submissions to determine the most accurate and cost effective submission.
- Review requests for customized price quotes based on adjustments to standard plans, specifications, and options and complete retail pricing for final acceptance.
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Accomplish estimating and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Building, Construction Management, Architectural Technologies, Quantity Surveying or equivalent from a recognized technical institute.
- Excellent working knowledge of the Alberta Building Codes.
- Our office is located on 124 Street and 102 Avenue; there are numerous public parking options within close proximity to our office. Cantiro will assist the successful candidate with a list of available lots in the area.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to interpret and provide comments on architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical blueprints and specifications and costing points of view.
- Expert working knowledge of Excel and MS Project, working knowledge of Homefront is considered an asset.
- Effective verbal, written and listening communication skills.
- Proven planning, communication, organizing, analytical decision making and negotiating skills.
- New home building experience considered an asset.
