Soil Vac Inc. is seeking a Red Seal Certified Journeyman Powerline Technician to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who takes pride in working safely, supporting their team, and sharing their knowledge in the field.

Position Overview
The Journeyman position is performed by a Red Seal Certified Powerline Technician who has successfully completed a recognized apprenticeship program and possesses the experience and qualifications required to work independently as a fully licensed professional.
The successful candidate will be responsible for safely performing secondary hydro service work while ensuring the safety of fellow crew members and the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety at every job site.
- Ensure all required PPE, safety equipment, and specialized tools are available and ready each day.
- Work collaboratively with crew members while providing guidance and support as needed.
- Remain vigilant during field operations to ensure worker safety while completing secondary service splices.
- Safely locate and isolate secondary hydro services within transformers using proper PPE and protective cover-up methods.
- Work confidently and safely around high-voltage transmission systems while performing secondary service connections.
- Remove jumpers and service savers as required.
- Reconnect line-side wiring in meter bases.
- Perform voltage checks at meters following fault repairs.
- Complete daily inspections and safety checks of assigned work vehicles.
- Report any equipment or vehicle deficiencies promptly.
- Take responsibility for personal safety and contribute to the safety and well-being of the entire crew.
Qualifications
Required:
- Red Seal Certification as a Powerline Technician.
- Extensive experience working in the hydro and utility industry.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to safely work around high-voltage electrical systems.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and professional work environment.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
