McKenzie Veterinary Services is looking for an exceptional Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This is a dynamic, hands-on role in a busy 7 doctor hospital where no two days are the same. We’re looking for someone who is reliable, accountable, efficient, and confident working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
About the Role
As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll play an essential role in supporting our veterinarians, RVTs, patients, and clients. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that works together to keep the hospital running smoothly and ensure every patient receives exceptional care.
Your day may include:
- Assisting veterinarians and technicians during examinations and procedures
- Safely handling and restraining animals
- Preparing, cleaning, and maintaining treatment and surgical areas
- Sterilizing and organizing surgical instruments and equipment
- Monitoring and caring for patients before and after procedures
- Administering treatments and medications as directed
- Maintaining accurate patient records
- Assisting with laboratory procedures and diagnostics
- Providing compassionate support and excellent service to pet owners
- Helping maintain a clean, organized, and efficient hospital
- Jumping in wherever needed to support the team and keep the day moving

Qualifications
- Previous veterinary assistant experience is preferred
- Experience in a busy veterinary or medical environment is an asset
- Experience with laboratory procedures is considered an asset
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- A genuine passion for animal care and patient wellbeing

Schedule
This is a full-time position. Our hospital is open 6 days per week, and Saturday shifts may be part of your regular schedule.
