Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, efficient, and detail-oriented Tote Sorter to support daily warehouse operations. The Tote Sorter is responsible for inspecting, organizing, and redistributing totes to the appropriate locations to ensure smooth material flow. This role is essential for maintaining accuracy, preventing production delays, and supporting overall warehouse organization.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
Tote Sorting & Material Handling
- Sort and organize totes according to tote size and supplier code
- Ensure totes are empty, free of damage, and suitable for reuse before sending them back into circulation
- Ensure totes are layered according to supplier requirements
- Palletize totes once supplier requirements are met by using box lids or plastic wrap
- Move palletized totes to designated staging areas or storage zones
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to tote management or material flow
Quality & Accuracy
- Verify correct labels, barcodes, or identifying information before reassigning totes
- Check for incorrect items or leftover materials in returned totes and route issues appropriately
- Communicate discrepancies or recurring issues to supervisors
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all OSHA and company safety guidelines when handling totes or operating warehouse equipment
- Keep sorting areas, walkways, and storage zones organized and free of hazards
- Use proper ergonomics and lifting techniques to prevent injury
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing experience preferred
- Strong attention to safety, detail, and accuracy
- Able to work in fast-paced environments and meet productivity expectations
- Basic understanding of warehouse organization and material flow
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry totes throughout the shift
- Familiarity with scanning devices or warehouse management systems is a plus
- Ability to operate multiple types of material-handling equipment such as tuggers and pallet jacks
