Job Overview: IT Co-op Student / Junior IT Support Technician
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated IT Co-op Student / Junior IT Support Technician to assist with daily IT operations and user support. This role provides hands-on experience supporting modern IT environments including network infrastructure, Windows systems, cloud collaboration platforms, and IT asset management.
The successful candidate will work alongside senior IT staff to troubleshoot technical issues, maintain systems, and ensure reliable technology services for employees.
Key Responsibilities
User Support
- Provide first-level support for Windows 10 and Windows 11 workstations.
- Troubleshoot common hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Assist users with SharePoint and OneDrive file access and synchronization issues.
Network Support
- Assist with Ethernet cabling, patching, and workstation connectivity.
- Troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity issues for laptops and mobile devices.
- Support basic network troubleshooting under guidance from senior IT staff.
Systems Administration Support
- Assist with Active Directory tasks such as user account creation, password resets, and group membership updates.
- Support system monitoring and routine maintenance activities.
- Perform basic Linux command line tasks when required.
IT Operations
- Maintain and update IT asset inventory records.
- Assist with workstation deployment, imaging, and configuration.
- Verify backups and report any failures or irregularities.
- Document troubleshooting steps and solutions.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of Ethernet cabling and patch panel connections
- Ability to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity issues
- Familiarity with Windows 10 and Windows 11 troubleshooting
- Basic understanding of Linux command line
- Understanding of Active Directory fundamentals
- Familiarity with SharePoint and OneDrive
- Knowledge of IT asset inventory management
- Awareness of backup verification procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrollment in an Information Technology, Computer Systems, or related program
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Good communication and documentation abilities
- Interest in learning enterprise IT infrastructure and cybersecurity practices
