Sarens Design & Contracting Inc. is a growing design-build contractor specializing in custom homes, renovations, commercial projects, and remote construction throughout Manitoba. We are looking for an experienced Construction Site Supervisor to lead projects from start to finish while maintaining our high standards for quality, organization, and customer service.
This is a leadership position for someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects, leading crews, solving problems, and delivering exceptional results.
Position Summary
The Construction Site Supervisor is responsible for the successful execution of multiple construction projects. This individual will oversee day-to-day site operations, coordinate trades and suppliers, manage schedules, maintain quality standards, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
This role combines field supervision with administrative responsibilities and requires excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage construction projects from start to completion.
- Develop and maintain project schedules.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, and deliveries.
- Monitor project budgets and labour productivity.
- Identify issues early and implement practical solutions.
- Maintain project documentation and daily reports.
Site Supervision
- Supervise company employees and subcontractors.
- Ensure work meets company quality standards and building code requirements.
- Perform regular site inspections and deficiency reviews.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite.
- Assist with hands-on construction activities when required.
- Ensure projects stay on schedule through proactive planning.
Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and motivate field staff.
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and termination of employees.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor crew productivity.
- Hold crews accountable for workmanship, safety, and professionalism.
- Foster a positive team culture.
Procurement & Scheduling
- Order materials and coordinate deliveries.
- Ensure materials arrive when needed to prevent delays.
- Work closely with suppliers to obtain pricing and availability.
- Coordinate equipment rentals and logistics.
- Schedule trades and inspections to maximize efficiency.
Client & Office Communication
- Act as the primary field contact for homeowners, clients, consultants, and trades.
- Communicate project progress regularly with management.
- Attend weekly planning meetings.
- Maintain accurate records, site photos, and progress reports using company software.
- Respond professionally to client questions and concerns.
Remote Projects
- Travel throughout Manitoba as required.
- Manage remote construction projects while maintaining company standards.
- Coordinate accommodations, logistics, and field operations.
- Be comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction supervision experience.
- Strong residential construction knowledge (commercial experience is an asset).
- Excellent understanding of scheduling and sequencing.
- Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings.
- Experience coordinating multiple trades.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable using computers, smartphones, and construction management software.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.
Preferred Experience
- Custom home construction.
- Renovations and commercial construction.
- Contractor Foreman, Buildertrend, Procore, or similar software.
- Manitoba Building Code knowledge.
- Estimating and purchasing experience.
