WAGE RATE: $40.24 – $57.68
The Registered Nurse (Float Pool) will provide nursing care to a wide variety of patients at Brightshores Health System. Throughout each shift, the Registered Nurse (FP) will be a member of the nursing team that provides direct nursing care to a specific unit within the assigned hospital. It is possible that the Registered Nurse (FP) may commence their scheduled shift in one clinical area and, in response to fluctuations in patient census or acuity, may be re-directed to a different unit to support operational requirements. It is also possible the Registered Nurse (FP) may be temporarily assigned to a specific unit/program area to provide coverage for extended leaves of absence or vacancies, as determined by organizational needs. The Registered Nurse (FP) is responsible for the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to patients in order to attain or maintain optimal function.
Skills/Abilities/Qualifications
Required
- Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility
- Recent Medical-Surgical experience
- Physical Assessment course
- BCLS
- ECG Interpretation
- Venipunctures to establish an IV required
- IV medications below the drip chamber required
- Central line care – including tubing, dressing change, line removal and blood sampling
- Management and care of patients with epidural analgesia
- Management and care of PCA Pumps
- Maintenance of TPN
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision required
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing population and patient needs
- Willingness to escort patients via ambulance services when required
- Demonstrated leadership problem solving, decision making, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated interviewing and patient assessment skills
- Demonstrated interest and experience in patient education and health promotion
- Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
