The Tłegǫhłı Got’įnę Government (TGG) is seeking interested applicants to fill a seasonal Master Limited (Captain) position for TGG's Marine Services on a 15-day-on, 13-day-off rotational basis. Interested applicants must be available for training and orientation in Norman Wells, NT.
Camp accommodation, food, and transportation will be provided.
TGG’s Marine Services operates in a highly regulated oil and gas field. All crew members will require clearance of pre-access drug & alcohol testing and may be subject to additional random testing and spot checks throughout the operating season.
Candidates must be able to attend orientation and training at least 3 days before the start of rotation in Norman Wells.
The main duties and responsibilities of the Master Limited (60GT) Captain shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
- maintain the safety and security of the passengers, crew, cargo and the vessel;
- deliver training and vessel familiarization to new crew;
- assign crew tasks and provide direction;
- ensure the safe navigation and maneuvering of the vessel;
- ensure adherence to Transport Canada rules and regulations and other federal and local rules and regulations;
- carry out regular safety inspections of the vessel to ensure that the vessel complies with local and international law;
- ensure strict compliance with Emergency Response and evacuation plans;
- organize and participate in the execution of safety programs, including emergency drills;
- ensure that the accident/incident/near miss forms are duly filled, reported and sent to appropriate supervisor(s);
- complete all shift records: checklist, logbook, and safety training documentation;
- additional job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master, Limited for Vessel less than 60 Gross Tonnage
- MED Basic Safety and Small Passenger Vessel Safety (MED A1 & A2)
- MED STCW Advanced Firefighting Course
- Restricted Operator Certificate - Maritime Commercial
- Valid Marine Basic First Aid
- Current Transport Canada approved marine medical certification
- Ability to clear a drug and alcohol test before hiring and potential random tests throughout employment with prior notice.
Additional Qualifications or ability to receive training in:
- Small Vessel Machinery Operator (without restriction) Certificate
- CSTS 2020 or Equivalent.
- H2S Aware.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
- WHMIS

Pay: $630.00-$700.00 per day
