Overview
Are you a CPA with solid hands-on experience who is ready to step into a broader leadership opportunity? This is a chance to join a successful, privately held manufacturing business with a proud long-standing history in Kitchener, Ontario. We are seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Controller who can grow into a trusted financial partner to the President and management team while proving their ability to contribute at a senior level.
This role is well suited to a finance professional in the earlier-to-mid stage of their leadership journey—someone with the maturity, judgment, and experience to take ownership, learn the business deeply, and earn increasing influence over time. You will work closely with management and our entire plant staff of 40 employees to support the pursuit of new markets, technologies, and opportunities.
Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Accounting
- Oversee all aspects of the finance and accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Prepare and analyze timely and accurate financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and reports for the President and management.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditure planning.
- Ensure accurate cost accounting for our metal stamping and fabrication operations.
- Coordinate the annual financial review and tax return preparation with external accountants.
Compliance & Systems
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and corporate policies.
- Oversee and ensure the integrity and compliance of both financial and non-financial internal control systems.
- Manage the implementation and optimization of financial and operational systems.
Strategic & Operational Support
- Manage aspects of supply chain management relating to international purchasing.
- Navigate and ensure compliance with complex tariffs on imports and exports.
- Serve as a business partner to the President, providing financial analysis and guidance to support strategic decision-making, operational improvements, and market expansion.
Qualifications
- Designated Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
- 5+ years of progressive experience in a finance or accounting role within a manufacturing environment (ideally metal fabrication, stamping, or a similar industry).
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Deep knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory management in a production setting.
- Proven ability to manage international purchasing and understand import/export tariffs and customs compliance.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting software and advanced Excel skills.

Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
