Job Description: Before & After Program (BAP) Support Staff
Location: Windsor Forks District School
Reports To: BAP Leader, Executive Director, and BAP Coordinator
Employment Type: Part-Time Contract
Contract Term: September 4, 2026 – June 26, 2027 (School Year)
Hours: Monday–Friday, approximately 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (subject to school calendar)
Position Summary
The Before & After Program (BAP) Support Staff works collaboratively with the BAP Leader to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where school-aged children can learn, play, build relationships, and thrive.
Support Staff assist in implementing engaging, play-based experiences that promote children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while supporting Windsor Nursery School's commitment to relationship-based practice, positive guidance, and inclusive learning environments.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
- Experience working with school-aged children in childcare, recreation, education, community programming, or a related field.
- Post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Behavioural Science, Developmental Services Worker, Recreation, Community Services, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Current Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Willingness to participate in required professional development and ongoing training.
Responsibilities
As a BAP Support Staff member, you will:
- Assist in providing a safe, caring, and inclusive environment for all children.
- Supervise children at all times while supporting their health, safety, and well-being.
- Support the implementation of engaging indoor and outdoor activities that encourage creativity, physical activity, and positive social interactions.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with children and families.
- Support children's emotional regulation using positive guidance strategies aligned with Windsor Nursery School's Positive Child Guidance Policy.
- Assist in creating an inviting, organized, and stimulating learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with the BAP Leader, fellow educators, the BAP Coordinator, and Executive Director.
- Communicate effectively regarding children's needs, program updates, and any concerns.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Assist with snack preparation, program setup and cleanup, organization of materials, and general housekeeping duties.
- Participate in required professional development, staff meetings, and training opportunities.
- Complete daily program responsibilities and other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, and move throughout the program.
- Participate in active indoor and outdoor play.
- Supervise children during physical activities, walks, and gym programming.
- Lift, carry, and organize program equipment and supplies as required.
- Respond quickly to children's needs and changing situations.
- Perform light to moderate physical duties throughout each shift.
Working Conditions
The successful candidate will work in Windsor Nursery School's licensed Before & After Program located at Windsor Forks District School. Programming takes place in classrooms, the gymnasium, outdoor play spaces, and other approved school environments.
This is a part-time contract position running from September 4 through June 26, following the public school calendar. Hours are approximately 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and are subject to enrollment and operational needs.
