Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Long Haul Driver to join our transportation team. This role involves operating heavy-duty trucks over long distances to deliver freight efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage logistics across various routes. Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks over long-distance routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance
- Manage freight documentation, including bills of lading and delivery receipts
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and cargo details in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or issues encountered during transit
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to ensure vehicle readiness
- Assist with warehouse operations, including forklift operation for loading and unloading freight
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, especially long-haul routes
- Ability to operate forklifts and heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and logistics management
- Basic automotive repair skills for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and transportation regulations
- Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with GPS systems for route planning
- Good communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers and clients
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle physically demanding tasks
