BarChef Toronto is seeking a Server / Supervisor to execute a highly detailed, experience-driven style of service while providing leadership during service and assuming key operational responsibilities. This role requires a deep understanding of the menu, the ability to confidently guide guests through the Modernist Series, and the maturity to oversee shifts, support the team, and ensure the restaurant operates smoothly from open to close.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver an exceptional, elevated guest experience by curating personalized service that reflects BarChef's standards
- Perfectly describe the menu, including BarChef's philosophy, modernist techniques, ingredients, and how each component is intended to be experienced
- Confidently guide guests through the Modernist Series, clearly explaining format, pacing, and how to engage with each element of the experience
- Anticipate guest needs and ensure they feel engaged and cared for through attentive, intuitive service
- Execute service pacing with precision, ensuring a seamless and well-timed progression for each table
- Perform detailed table maintenance, including resetting, clearing, and preparing tables to standard
- Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and special requests professionally while making thoughtful, informed recommendations
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of cocktails, spirits, and food offerings, with confidence in menu presentation and storytelling
- Execute all service elements with consistency and precision, from presentation to synchronized service steps
- Collaborate with FOH and BOH teams to maintain a seamless flow of service
- Support the management team by leading shifts, maintaining service standards, and assisting with floor supervision
- Provide guidance and support to servers, hosts, support staff, and bartenders throughout service
- Assist with training and onboarding new team members while reinforcing BarChef's service standards and culture
- Complete opening and closing supervisory duties, including opening the restaurant, closing the restaurant, securing the premises, and ensuring all operational checklists have been completed
- Complete nightly administrative reporting, cash reconciliation, shift documentation, and other operational tasks as required
- Monitor cleanliness, organization, and readiness of all front-of-house areas throughout the shift
- Identify and resolve operational issues proactively while communicating effectively with management
- Continuously adapt to menu updates, service refinements, and evolving operational standards
- Uphold professionalism, accountability, and contribute to a team-driven service environment
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in hospitality, preferably in a restaurant, cocktail bar, or fine dining environment
- Previous supervisory, keyholder, or leadership experience in a hospitality setting is considered a strong asset
- Strong food and beverage knowledge, with an understanding of cocktails, spirits, and ingredient pairings
- Exceptional service and floor management skills, with the ability to balance guest experience and operational efficiency
- Experience leading service in a high-volume, detail-oriented environment
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to consistency in execution
- Ability to remain calm, decisive, and solution-oriented under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to confidently articulate menu details, coach team members, and resolve guest concerns
- Professional presentation aligned with BarChef standards
- Comfortable opening and closing the restaurant, completing administrative duties, and acting as the manager-on-duty when required
- Weekend, evening, and late-night availability required
