Reports To: Shift Supervisor, Assistant Manager, or Restaurant Manager
Position Summary:
The Prep Cook / Hand-Breaded Onion Ring Team Member is responsible for preparing fresh ingredients and ensuring all hand-breaded onion rings are made to company standards. This role plays an important part in maintaining food quality, food safety, and kitchen efficiency by ensuring products are prepared accurately, consistently, and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare hand-breaded onion rings according to company recipes and procedures.
- Slice, separate, and prepare onions while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure proper battering, breading, and storage procedures are followed.
- Complete all daily prep duties, including:
- Lettuce preparation
- Tomato slicing
- Onion slicing and preparation
- Preparing and stocking additional menu items as assigned
- Label, date, and rotate all prepared products using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
- Maintain proper holding temperatures and food safety standards at all times.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors when supplies are low.
- Clean and sanitize prep areas, utensils, cutting boards, and equipment throughout the shift.
- Complete all assigned cleaning tasks and maintain an organized workstation.
- Assist kitchen staff during busy periods as required.
- Properly dispose of waste and ensure all products meet quality expectations before serving.
- Follow all company policies, including health and safety, sanitation, and uniform standards.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Previous food service experience is considered an asset but is not required.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to food safety and customer satisfaction.
Performance Expectations:
- All prep work is completed accurately and on schedule.
- Hand-breaded onion rings consistently meet company quality standards.
- Food safety procedures are followed without exception.
- Workstations remain clean, stocked, and organized throughout the shift.
- Positive teamwork and communication are demonstrated with all staff members.
- Minimal product waste and proper inventory rotation are maintained.
Working Conditions:
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Working with kitchen equipment, knives, and food preparation tools.
- Exposure to hot surfaces, refrigeration units, and cleaning chemicals.
- Flexible scheduling, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
This position is essential to delivering a high-quality guest experience by ensuring all fresh ingredients and hand-breaded onion rings are prepared safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Pay: From $16.75 per hour
