We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Building Manager / Maintenance Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and upkeep of a professional commercial building in Prince George.
This position is well suited to someone who is organized, practical, dependable, and takes pride in keeping a building clean, safe, well maintained, and operating efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular building inspections and identify maintenance and repair needs.
- Perform minor repairs and general maintenance where appropriate.
- Coordinate contractors, trades, cleaning services, snow removal, landscaping, and other vendors.
- Meet contractors on site, obtain quotes as required, and ensure work is completed properly.
- Monitor building systems and arrange qualified trades when specialized work is required.
- Respond to tenant maintenance concerns promptly and ensure issues are documented and followed through to resolution.
- Maintain work orders, maintenance records, inspection records, service contracts, and other building documentation.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and assist with longer-term maintenance planning.
- Assist with reviewing invoices, tracking expenses, and maintaining basic spreadsheets and schedules.
- Maintain professional and positive relationships with tenants, contractors, vendors, and service providers.
- Assist with building security, access control, fire safety, accessibility, and emergency procedures.
- Provide regular written updates and reports to the Board of Directors regarding maintenance, repairs, outstanding issues, and upcoming work.
- Identify opportunities to improve building maintenance, efficiency, and operating costs.
- Respond to occasional after-hours building issues or emergencies.
Qualifications
- Experience in building maintenance, property maintenance, facilities, construction, or a related field.
- Strong practical/handyman and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to determine when a qualified trade or specialist is required.
- Experience coordinating contractors and service providers.
- Good computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, email, and electronic filing.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently.
- Good attention to detail and follow-through.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Comfortable communicating with tenants, contractors, vendors, and the Board of Directors.
A journeyman trade certification is an asset but is not required.
