Residential Carpenter Apprentice / Laborer
We’re a residential restoration and renovation crew looking for a physically fit, entry-level worker. No experience required—just a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. We’re open to first, second, and third-year indentured apprentices, and we’ll also consider skilled journeymen.
The work: Drywall, tile, concrete, painting, framing, and general restoration. Indoor and outdoor, year-round—expect hot summers and cold Edmonton winters, so dress appropriately and wear your safety gear. The work is varied—tight spaces, overhead work, heavy lifting, and material handling. Steel-toe boots required.
What you need:
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle to get between job scopes in Edmonton and area
Physically fit—able to lift fifty pounds, comfortable working in tight spaces and overhead, handle heat and cold
Comfortable with hand and power tools
Professional appearance on job sites—clients are often home
Hours: Part-part-time, twenty to forty hours a week.
Must pass a pre-employment alcohol and drug test.
Duties
- Assist with reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to support project execution
- Prepare job sites by setting up scaffolding, measuring, marking, and organizing materials
- Learn to operate hand tools, power tools, CNC machines, and other equipment safely and efficiently
- Support concrete forming, rebar installation, drywall hanging, tile laying, flooring installation, and siding work
- Participate in framing, cabinet installation, roofing, masonry tasks, and caulking to develop a broad skill set
- Help with restoration projects including drywall repair and painting to enhance building finishes
- Support plumbing and electrical work under supervision to gain cross-disciplinary knowledge
- Assist with heavy lifting, material handling, assembly tasks, and site cleanup to maintain a safe work environment
Skills
- Basic understanding of blueprint reading and schematics for construction projects
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, masonry techniques, and woodworking fundamentals
- Knowledge of construction processes such as concrete forming, rebar installation, roofing, siding, and flooring installation
- Experience or interest in drywall installation, tile laying, cabinetry work, and painting techniques
- Ability to follow safety protocols diligently while working with heavy equipment and materials
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Eagerness to learn new skills in carpentry-related disciplines including plumbing and electrical work
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting, (50lbs) standing for extended periods, and working at heights or in confined spaces
