Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items accurately according to recipes, portioning, and plating specifications for the assigned station (e.g., sauté, grill, fry, garde manger, pantry)
- Complete mise en place before service: prepare ingredients, sauces, garnishes, and ensure station readiness
- Execute dishes during service with correct timing, temperature control, and presentation standards; maintain speed and consistency during peak periods
- Follow portion control, waste-reduction, and FIFO stock-rotation procedures to support food-cost targets
- Maintain station cleanliness and organization throughout shift; sanitize work surfaces, tools, and equipment per HACCP/local regulations
- Communicate with other kitchen stations and front-of-house staff to coordinate orders, modifiers, and allergy requests
- Assist with prep work, bulk cooking, and mise en place for future services as directed by senior kitchen staff
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any malfunctions or hazards to management
- Receive, inspect, and store deliveries as requested; label and date products correctly
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards (handwashing, glove use, hair restraints)
- Participate in team briefings and contribute ideas for efficiency or menu improvements when appropriate
- Support special events, banquets, or catering setups as needed
Requirements
- Prior experience working in a professional kitchen preferred (commis, line cook, or culinary school externship)
- Basic cooking techniques and station-specific skills (knife work, temperature control, sautéing, frying, grilling, cold prep)
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices; certifications (HACCP) preferred or required by location
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure with good attention to detail
- Strong teamwork, communication, and receptiveness to feedback from senior cooks and chefs
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to typical kitchen loads (50 lbs), and work in hot, fast-paced environments

Pay: $17.00-$22.00 per hour
