We are looking for an experienced and motivated Feedlot Manager to lead one of our feedlot operations.
The Opportunity
KCL Cattle Company is looking for an experienced and motivated Feedlot Manager to lead one of our feedlot operations.
The Feedlot Manager is responsible for the overall performance, leadership, and day-to-day management of the assigned feedlot. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands cattle, knows how to lead people, and takes ownership of operational performance.
Working closely with the Operations Manager, the Feedlot Manager ensures the feedlot operates safely, efficiently, profitably, and in accordance with KCL's standards for animal welfare, safety, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and hold accountable the feedlot team.
- Oversee daily feedlot operations, including cattle receiving, processing, pen management, feeding, cattle movement, shipping, and yard conditions.
- Ensure feeding programs and nutritional protocols are accurately executed.
- Monitor cattle performance, feed efficiency, cost of gain, animal health, and overall yard performance.
- Maintain high standards of animal health, welfare, biosecurity, and low-stress cattle handling.
- Work closely with veterinarians, nutritionists, the Operations Manager, and other operational teams.
- Ensure safety procedures, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards are followed.
- Manage the effective use of feed, labour, equipment, facilities, and other resources.
- Monitor feedlot performance and provide regular reporting on key metrics, risks, and opportunities.
- Identify operational issues and implement practical solutions.
- Support employee training, performance management, and leadership development.
- Coordinate maintenance and facility needs with the Operations Manager and Shop team.
- Support emergency response and operational risk management.

- Experience in feedlot operations and cattle management.
- Strong leadership experience in a feedlot or agricultural operation.
- A solid understanding of cattle feeding, animal health, nutrition, and welfare.
- The ability to lead, coach, and develop a team.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Financial awareness and an understanding of how operational decisions impact profitability.
- A strong commitment to safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
