Managing Director, Naramata Childcare Centre
About the Role
The Naramata Childcare Society (NCS) is seeking a full time (35+ hours per week) Managing Director to lead the day-to-day operations of our centre, while also supporting quality care for children. This role combines staff leadership, administrative responsibilities, and hands-on childcare in a supportive, community-focused environment. We offer a competitive hourly rate, two weeks paid vacation time, one paid week off in the summer and a health care spending account.
Responsibilities
Staff Leadership
- Develop staff schedules and coordinate shift coverage to maintain staffing levels that meet licensing requirements.
- Host staff meetings, support team communication, and foster a supportive and collegial staff environment.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and maintaining employee files.
Childcare & Family Support
- Provide quality programming, supervision, and care for children, ages 2.5 - 12 years old.
- Welcome and orient children and families new to Naramata Childcare Centre.
- Communicate with parents and meet with families regarding children's development and behaviour.
- Develop and enhance use of digital daycare management and communication tools (e.g. Lillio)
Administration & Operations
- Process payroll and review NCS expenditures.
- Coordinate newsletters and parent communications.
- Order supplies and ensure classrooms are well-stocked and organized.
- Maintain current and secure new and/or enhanced funding sources.
Licensing & Compliance
- Ensure records, cleaning logs, fire drill documentation, and other required documents are up to date to ensure compliance with licensing standards and funder expectations.
- Work with staff to maintain licensing standards and communicate with licensing officials as needed.
Program & Community Engagement
- Help organize fundraisers, special events and outings, and seasonal camp activities.
- Support the ongoing organization and improvement of classrooms and learning spaces.
Qualifications
- Early Childhood Educator certification with experience working in a licensed childcare setting.
- Previous management experience in a childcare setting is preferred; however, candidates with proven leadership abilities and experience guiding and supporting a team are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of BC childcare licensing requirements is an asset.
- Valid First Aid certification.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.
