Construction Estimator — Part-Time / Contract Construction Angel Inc. Location: Remote / Flexible Position: Part-Time Construction Estimator Schedule: Approximately 1 day per week Compensation: $40–$55/hour, based on experience and expertise About Construction Angel Construction Angel provides professional administrative, project coordination, estimating and operational support to contractors across Canada. We work with established construction companies across a variety of trades and are looking for an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team on a part-time basis. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced estimator who enjoys working with different contractors, trades and project types without committing to a full-time estimating position. The Role We are looking for a skilled Construction Estimator with a minimum of 5 years of estimating experience who can confidently review construction documents, quantify scopes of work and prepare accurate estimates across varying trades. The workload will vary from week to week depending on our clients' needs. Projects may include residential, commercial and light construction projects across a range of trades. You will work directly with the Construction Angel team and, where required, our contractor clients to clarify scope, identify gaps and produce reliable estimates. Key Responsibilities - Review plans, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and tender documents - Perform detailed quantity takeoffs - Prepare material, labour and equipment estimates - Develop accurate cost estimates based on project requirements - Review subcontractor and supplier quotations - Identify missing information, exclusions, assumptions and potential scope gaps - Compare quotes and assist with subcontractor selection - Assist with pricing change orders and additional work - Prepare estimates for a variety of construction trades - Communicate with clients and project teams regarding estimating requirements - Research current material and labour pricing when required - Maintain organized estimating documentation and supporting calculations - Clearly document assumptions, exclusions and inclusions - Meet estimating deadlines and communicate proactively when additional information is required Trades & Project Types Our clients operate across a variety of construction sectors and trades. Experience in multiple areas is strongly preferred. Depending on client requirements, projects may include: - General contracting - Excavation and civil - Concrete - Carpentry - Framing - Roofing - Siding - Fencing - Landscaping - Site development - Renovations - Commercial construction - Residential construction - Mechanical and specialty trades You do not need to be an expert in every trade. We are looking for someone with strong core estimating skills who can confidently learn and estimate different scopes. Qualifications - Minimum 5 years of professional construction estimating experience - Strong understanding of construction plans and specifications - Proven experience completing quantity takeoffs - Strong understanding of construction materials, labour and installation methods - Ability to interpret drawings and identify scope requirements - Strong mathematical and analytical skills - Excellent attention to detail - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work independently and meet deadlines - Comfortable working with estimating software, spreadsheets and digital construction documents - Experience with multiple construction trades is strongly preferred The Right Person We're looking for an estimator who can hit the ground running. You should be comfortable receiving a set of plans, reviewing the scope, asking the right questions, completing the takeoff and producing a professional estimate without requiring significant supervision. Because our clients operate in different trades, adaptability is important. One week you may be estimating fencing or landscaping, and the next you may be reviewing excavation, concrete or general contracting scopes. We value accuracy, reliability, practical construction knowledge and clear communication.
