Summary
The Health and Safety Field Coordinator, under the direction for the Health and Safety Manager, will be responsible for monitoring compliance to Patrick Mechanical Limited policies and procedures, customer policies and Government Regulations. You will also help coach supervisors and stakeholders when evaluating the workplace health and safety performance of their teams. You will also help support the implementation of the communication plan to raise awareness and get employees motivated and willing to participate in matters related to workplace health and safety.
Responsibilities
Site Safety & Compliance
- Perform routine safety walkthroughs, inspections, and job observations at active work sites.
- Verify compliance with company standards, client expectations, and applicable legislation.
- Identify hazards, unsafe behaviours, and non conforming conditions, and record observations.
- Communicate findings and recommended corrective actions to site supervision and the Health and Safety Manager.
- Exercise and escalate Stop Work Authority situations when imminent hazards are identified.
- Support regulatory inspections and site visits as required.
- Review and confirm completion of pre use inspections for company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Identify equipment related safety concerns and ensure they are properly documented and addressed.
- Promote safe operation and use of mobile equipment and tools on job sites.
- Actively promote safe work practices through field level coaching and interaction.
- Reinforce the principles of the Internal Responsibility System (IRS).
- Assist with toolbox talks, site safety meetings, and safety related communications.
- Encourage workers to raise concerns and participate in safety initiatives.
- Provide support to Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) activities where applicable.
- Share inspection results, trends, and observations to support committee discussions.
- Assist with tracking corrective actions and follow ups.
- Serve as a communication bridge between field teams and the Health and Safety Manager.
Reporting & Safety Documentation
- Prepare accurate and timely inspection reports and field observations.
- Communicate hazards, incidents, and trends clearly and professionally.
- Assist with the development and review of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and site specific safety plans.
- Support incident investigations and contribute to root cause analysis.
- Assist with safety related administrative processes, including claims and return to work documentation.
- Support ongoing improvements to PML’s health and safety programs.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of hands on health and safety experience in construction, industrial, or mining environments.
- Working knowledge of Ontario occupational health and safety legislation, including: O. Reg. 213/91 | O. Reg. 851 | O. Reg. 854.
- Ability to apply legislative requirements in real world, field based situations.
- Experience completing site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety observations.
- Experience preparing or supporting Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and safety plans.
- Trainings: CHSO, NCSO, CRSP an asset.
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
