ABOUT CENTRAL ZONE
Central Zone is the second largest health zone in Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, serving approximately 90,000 people (17 per cent of the province’s population) living in 176 communities. With a geographical area encompassing more than half the total land mass of the island, the Central region extends from Charlottetown in the east, Fogo Island in the north, Harbour Breton in the south, to Baie Verte in the west. Central Zone provides a variety of primary, secondary, long-term care, community health, and other enhanced secondary services.
NL Health Services Central Zone is inviting applications for a Clinical Assistant position within the Category B Sites. Successful applicants will be awarded positions in specific Category B sites, based on the need of each site.
The successful application will join the team as a Clinical Assistant, supporting the physicians in the delivery of care. Responsibilities include order and help interpret investigations such as labs, x-rays and CT, complete adequate documentation including management plan, and assist with procedures such as fracture reductions/casting/suturing. They will also request consultations with specialist services when necessary and other clinical duties within the scope of the Clinical Assistant license. Once the successful applicant has reached level four (4) of the Clinical Assistant competency scale, they will be expected to assist with Virtual Emergency Coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Eligible for licensure as a Clinical Assistant with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL) Home - CPSNL
- Satisfy credentialing requirements of Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
HOURS OF WORK
75 hours biweekly plus on call obligations
REMUNERATION
This is a full-time salaried position. Pay will be in accordance with Newfoundland and Labrador Memorandum of Agreement. The Department of Health will determine what step you will start at based on experience. These amounts are subject to change with the implementation of the new MOA.
