About The Role:
Civida is searching for two new Site Assistants, one temporary (6 months) and one permanent. The Site Assistant is a member of the District Team and supports the delivery of safe, well-maintained homes and neighbourhoods for Civida residents. The role provides general operational support, including site maintenance, grounds upkeep, deliveries, and site access.
The position contributes to the effective functioning of the District Team by coordinating with team members to support day-to-day operational needs and ensure that work is completed in alignment with health and safety standards and established work practices. Salary: $52,012.37 - $63,052.02 per annum
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver and post notices to tenants; take pictures of unit notice postings and upload them for record keeping purposes.
- Inspect property sites for garbage and items left near bins, and clean or address as required.
- Clean up loose litter or debris on site grounds and common areas as required
- Run vacant unit report from property management system and conduct 48-hour vacant unit checks.
- Inspect exterior of buildings and homes, document deficiencies or violations e.g., window- mounted air conditioners, snow on sidewalks to unit) and escalate concerns to district team. Where appropriate, conduct a door knock to address or follow up on observed issues.
- Inspect parking lots when on site or as required for derelict vehicles and parking violations
- Complete inspections of apartment common areas and tenant entrances; report maintenance deficiencies and perform minor clean-up, salting, or shoveling as required.
- Identify and report any health and safety risks to District Housing Manager.
- Record and communicate relevant tenant interactions, including escalated or notable issues, in property management software to support team awareness and continuity of service.
- Provide access to units and/or act as a chaperone as required.
- Receive and coordinate appliance deliveries on site.
- Assist the Maintenance Technician with minor maintenance repairs and one-off tasks as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 -2 years of related custodial or property maintenance experience.
- WHMIS certification is required.
- Valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle for work purposes is required; Must provide proof of insurance and a driver’s abstract.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, ability to upload photos from a device to a computer, and ability to learn and use new software as required.
- Knowledge of the operation, care, and safe use of cleaning and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions and quickly learn assigned tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with the public and colleagues.
- Effective communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to operate basic maintenance equipment (e.g., hand tools, small power tools).
- Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures.
