The Role
Operations Engineer – Heavy Oil
Employment: Full Time – Staff Position

Reports To: Operations Engineering Manager
The Operations Engineer will be responsible for completing project scoping, design, construction, and
project management associated with field development while supporting operations MOC projects. The
successful candidate will work directly with high performing teams where individual accountability and a
high degree of autonomy is expected.
Responsibilities
Duties include the following, but are not limited to:
- Technical support to full project management of varying sizes of facility projects ranging from small
field-initiated projects to larger facilities projects with EPCM support
- Scope, estimate, procure and execute the construction of new multi-well batteries to tie in
development wells
- Direct support for area operations to ensure MOC projects are delivered efficiently, economically,
and safely along with the review and support of cost reduction opportunities
- Model and understand existing pipeline / facility infrastructure to scope modifications and
integration of new wells into existing infrastructure
- Support and provide input into capital approvals for project presentations, updates, and lookbacks
- Prepare AFEs with supporting project documentation and justification
- Follow the APEGA Obsidian Energy Standards of Professional Conduct, ABSA Owner User
Program, Electrical QMP, AER, GHG reduction requirements, and additional guidelines, codes,
and standards as required
- Work with integrity / environment / regulatory groups to ensure AER requirements are met
- Support a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, including training, and mentorship.
