Temporary Part-Time Line Cook
Contract - August 2026 - April 2027
Up to 25 hours per week
Reports To - Hospitality Supervisor
Summary
The Line Cook prepares and cooks high-quality food items according to established recipes and standards. This role works primarily at the Outback Shack restaurant, but may also support other Hospitality venues as needed, such as the Oasis restaurant. The Line Cook is responsible for station setup, maintaining cleanliness, following food safety protocols, and working as part of a fast-paced, customer-focused team.
In addition, this position may float to various areas of the Hospitality department to assist with any staffing needs as necessary.
Job Duties
- Set up and stock workstation efficiently to meet operational demands.
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area in accordance with food safety standards.
- Monitor food quality and minimize waste using approved preparation methods.
- Support kitchen operations, including dishwashing and garbage removal as needed.
- Assist with receiving and properly storing food deliveries.
- Float between locations and support other Hospitality operations based on staffing needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Fanshawe College Work Study eligibility preferred.
- Valid Safe Food Handler Certificate.
- Prior line cook experience 1 year
- Ability to adapt to fluctuating service volumes and work under pressure.
- Willingness to be cross‑trained across all hospitality stations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of safe food‑handling, hygiene, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to handle customer concerns professionally and respectfully.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, email).
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional appearance.
