Full-Time Yard Associate – Monaghan Lumber

Monaghan Lumber has proudly served Peterborough and the Kawarthas with high-quality building materials and expert service for over 36 years. We’re currently hiring a Full-Time Yard Associate to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, helping customers, staying active throughout the day, and working as part of a busy team. Previous experience with building materials is an asset, but we’re also willing to train the right person.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Yard Associate, you’ll be an important part of our day-to-day operations. You’ll help keep the yard, barns, and product areas organized while assisting customers, preparing orders, and supporting deliveries.
Duties include:
- Greeting customers and offering friendly, helpful service
- Loading customer vehicles with building materials and products
- Loading delivery trucks accurately and efficiently
- Picking and preparing customer orders
- Re-stocking products as needed
- Cutting materials using saws and other equipment as required
- Keeping barns, yard areas, and workspaces clean and organized
- Assisting with annual inventory counts and product recording
- Maintaining a safe and professional work environment
- Representing Monaghan Lumber with professionalism and always upholding our code of conduct
What We’re Looking For
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Excellent customer service skills and a genuine interest in helping people
- Comfortable working on your feet in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable with basic measurements, quantities, and order accuracy
- Ability to lift approximately 25–60 lbs
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and grow with the team
- Previous experience with building materials is a strong asset, but not required
- Secondary School Diploma required
What We Offer
- Full-time hours: 44 hours/week
- Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
