Tandem Networks is seeking an experience Fiber Optic Technician to join our growing construction division. The main area of work will be in Kingston and the Ottawa valley region. The Fiber Optic Technician’s responsibility will be to splice optic cables in both indoor and outdoor settings. They will need to create and maintain splicing schematics and diagrams, maintain adequate splicing notes, respect timelines, and provide accurate inspections and troubleshooting.
Key Tasks & Functions:
· Splice both loose tubes and ribbon fiber optic cables. Including FOSC, FTTH terminals, CSP, FDH, Coyote enclosures, and OTDR testing.
· Create and maintain splicing sheets.
· Understand and interpret drawings, splicing diagrams, and blueprints
· Enter and maintain outside plant records
· Perform maintenance and recognize/repair routing issues
Qualifications & Skills:
· Fiber splicing experience an asset. Training and mentoring can be offered.
· Knowledge and experience with aerial and underground infrastructure, fiber, HFC, and coaxial systems
· Knowledge and experience using MS Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel)
· Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production, technical plans, blueprints, drawings, etc.
· Experience with working at heights
