Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy equipment maintenance. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including dump trucks, excavators, bulldozers and other industrial equipment. The Heavy Diesel Mechanic will ensure all machinery operates efficiently and safely, utilizing a range of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic schematics. Responsibilities
- Perform detailed diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines and heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspections
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues
- Operate and service industrial equipment safely following all safety protocols
- Weld or fabricate parts as needed using welding equipment and hand tools
- Use power tools for assembly, disassembly, and repair tasks
- Maintain accurate records of repairs performed and parts used
- Assist with the installation of new equipment or systems when required
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and environmental regulations
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair needs clearly to clients or supervisors
Skills
- Proven experience in dealership automotive repair or heavy equipment maintenance
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and schematics
- Hands-on experience with excavators, cranes, forklifts, HVAC systems, welding, and farm machinery is preferred
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and assembly techniques
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills for effective customer service and team collaboration
- Knowledge of industrial equipment operation and maintenance procedures
