City of Winnipeg Parking Lot Maintenance Technician

We are looking for a reliable, self-motivated employee to inspect and maintain City of Winnipeg surface parking lots and the Millennium Library Parkade. This is an independent position that requires good judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections of assigned parking lots and parkade.
- Complete daily electronic reports documenting inspections and work performed.
- Pick up litter and debris from parking lots.
- Safely remove and dispose of litter, debrus and potential hazards from differing locations while maintaining proper PPE and approved disposal procedures.
- Inspect lots for deficiencies such as damaged signs, trip hazards, graffiti, damaged fencing, electrical issues, and other maintenance concerns.
- Report safety concerns immediately.
- Remove graffiti using approved cleaning methods or repaint surfaces when required.
- Replace damaged or missing parking signs and install new signs as directed.
- Test electrical parking outlets each fall and document any that are not functioning.
- Repair minor deficiencies such as loose signs and small maintenance items.
- Move traffic pylons, barricades, and other parking equipment between sites when requested.
- Fill small potholes with gravel by hand as directed.
- Perform weed trimming and other general grounds maintenance as required.
- Assist with winter maintenance, including hand sanding and snow shovelling at entrances, sidewalks, and problem areas.
- Clean parkade sand traps and drains according to the maintenance schedule.
- Use and maintain company tools and equipment safely.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round.
- Able to lift up to 50 lb and perform physical labour throughout the day.
- Comfortable handling unpleasant tasks while following proper safety procedures.
- Able to work independently and manage daily priorities.
- Strong communication and attention to detail.
- Basic repair and maintenance experience is considered an asset.
- Company cell phone and work vehicle provided
This position plays an important role in keeping City parking facilities clean, safe, and well maintained for the public.
Pay: $26.75-$31.25 per hour
