Fontaine Site Services is a growing civil construction contractor specializing in earthworks, underground utilities, roadworks and site development.
We are currently looking for an experienced Civil Construction Foreman to join our team.
The successful candidate will have strong experience in civil construction, underground utilities, excavation, and earthworks and must be comfortable leading crews while also being actively involved in the work.
This is a hands-on leadership position suited to someone who can organize a site, manage people and subcontractors, understand drawings and grades, and keep production moving safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate field crews while working closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
- Plan and organize daily site activities, manpower, equipment, materials, trucking, deliveries, and subcontractors.
- Actively participate in site work as required and lead crews by example.
- Coordinate excavation, underground utility installation, backfill, grading, roadworks, and other civil construction activities.
- Ensure work is completed according to drawings, specifications, grades, and project requirements.
- Read and interpret civil drawings, plans, specifications, and survey information.
- Identify site conflicts and construction issues and communicate solutions to the Project Manager or Superintendent.
- Maintain productivity and help keep projects on schedule.
- Ensure company safety procedures, WorkSafeBC requirements, and site-specific safety requirements are followed.
- Conduct toolbox meetings and maintain a safe and organized worksite.
- Coordinate subcontractors, trucking, suppliers, inspectors, and other parties working on site.
- Complete daily reports and maintain accurate records of manpower, equipment, materials, delays, extra work, and site activities.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, consultants, inspectors, suppliers, subcontractors, and the public.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Foreman or supervisory role within civil construction.
- Strong experience with underground utilities, excavation, earthworks, and site servicing.
- Experience installing storm, sanitary, and water systems is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of excavation procedures, trenching, shoring, backfill, compaction, and grading.
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, elevations, grades, and as-built information.
- Ability to perform basic construction calculations and understand survey information.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to coordinate crews, equipment, trucking, materials, and subcontractors efficiently.
- Strong understanding of construction safety requirements and safe work procedures around heavy equipment, excavations, utilities, traffic, and the public.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Occupational First Aid certification.
- Ground Disturbance certification.
- Confined Space certification.
- Excavation and trenching experience.
- Utility installation experience.
- Equipment operating experience.
- Survey, GPS, or machine-control experience.
- Other relevant construction certifications or tickets.
