Mastodon Equipment Repair Ltd. is a growing team of skilled heavy‑equipment technicians providing top‑quality service across construction, industrial, and mining environments. Our work is hands‑on, outdoors, and often on the road—supporting everything from cranes and aerial work platforms to drilling equipment, earthmoving machinery, and specialized mine‑site assets.
We are currently seeking a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician who is confident working independently and capable of handling field repairs, remote assignments, and rotational mine‑site work when required. Highly experienced apprentices demonstrating strong technical ability and self‑sufficiency will also be considered.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate brings a solid background in heavy equipment maintenance and repair, with proven experience across surface or underground machinery. You must be comfortable working alone in the field, managing your own workflow, and making sound decisions under varying conditions. This role includes operating a fully equipped service truck, performing diagnostics and repairs on remote job sites, and participating in mine‑site rotations depending on project needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Work safely and follow all site‑specific and company procedures
- Operate and maintain a service truck for field diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance
- Perform independent troubleshooting on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Complete safety inspections, equipment assessments, and detailed repair documentation
- Conduct light welding and fabrication as needed
- Assemble, disassemble, and repair industrial, construction, and mining equipment
- Respond to breakdowns efficiently—both in shop and field environments
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions and handle heavy components safely
- Collaborate with team members when required, while maintaining strong solo‑work capability
- Participate in mine‑site rotations, including remote travel and camp stays when assigned
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification (preferred)
- Experienced apprentices with strong independent work habits will be considered
- Proven experience with heavy equipment, industrial machinery, cranes, aerial platforms, or mining equipment
- Ability to work independently in remote or high‑paced environments
- Strong diagnostic skills and ability to read hydraulic/electrical schematics
- Competence in stick/MIG welding, basic fabrication, and repair welding
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Comfortable working outdoors and performing heavy lifting
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and documentation skills
