About the Role
Canerector is a family-held industrial company with more than 50 businesses across Canada and the US.
We are hiring an Executive Driver & Assistant to support one of our senior executives, based in Kitchener-Waterloo. This is a high-trust role for someone who enjoys being both behind the wheel and behind the scenes. You will act as a reliable partner, helping ensure business travel, schedules, and day-to-day logistics run smoothly. The role combines professional driving with practical administrative support and requires exceptional discretion, judgment, and reliability.
This is a hybrid role that does not fit a standard job title. Roughly 60% of it is professional driving. The other 40% is hands-on administrative support. Above everything else, we are hiring a good, safe driver. The right person wants both parts of the job: time on the road, and real responsibility for keeping an executive's week running smoothly. You will spend significant time working directly with one person, so trust, discretion, and reliability matter more here than any credential.
What You Will Do
Driving (60%):
- Drive the executive from Kitchener-Waterloo to the Toronto office and back on core office days (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday). These are longer days.
- Handle airport runs and drives to company sites across Ontario, typically on Tuesdays and Fridays with a flexible schedule.
- Drive to company locations and meetings in the United States as required. You must hold a valid passport and be able to cross the border without restriction. Cross-border travel may involve overnight stays.
- Keep the company vehicle clean, maintained, fueled or charged, and road-ready.
- Occasional travel support during business trips, including driving a rental at the destination.
Administrative support (40%):
- Coordinate travel arrangements including flights, hotels, rental vehicles, and ground transportation.
- Prepare and submit expense reports.
- Calendar management, meeting scheduling, and logistics coordination.
- Support follow-up on action items and administrative tasks.
- Provide office support at the Toronto office on days the executive is onsite: meeting setup, couriers, errands, document handling, and whatever else the day needs.
- Run errands and handle small tasks that keep the week moving.
What We Are Looking For
- A safe, calm, defensive driver above all. This is the core of the job and the first thing we will assess.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's license with a clean driving record and a minimum of 10 years of driving history in Canada. A current driver's abstract and criminal record check will be required.
- Valid passport and the ability to travel to the United States without restriction.
- Comfortable with significant highway driving in all seasons, including winter on the 401.
- Discreet and trustworthy. You will routinely be present for confidential business discussions and have access to sensitive information. Absolute discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment are essential. A confidentiality agreement is a condition of employment.
- Organized and comfortable with email, calendars, and basic office software (Outlook, Excel).
- Training will be provided for company-specific processes and systems.
- Flexible on hours. Core days are fixed; Tuesdays and Fridays flex around travel and site visits.
- Professional driving experience (chauffeur, limousine, executive transport) or administrative experience is an asset, not a requirement. Semi-retired candidates are welcome. Reliability and judgment are what we hire for.
You will thrive in this role if you:
- Enjoy driving and are genuinely comfortable spending several hours on the road.
- Prefer practical, hands-on work over sitting at a desk all day.
- Anticipate needs and solve small problems before they become big ones.
- Stay calm, organized, and professional when plans change.
- Take pride in being dependable and trustworthy.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary based on experience, plus benefits.
- A company vehicle for all work driving. You do not use your own car.
- A stable, long-term position with a successful privately held company.
- Exposure to senior leadership and diverse business operations across Canada and the United States.
- Predictable core schedule with real variety: highway days, airport runs, site visits to manufacturing operations across Ontario.
Canerector is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible workplace. Accommodations are available upon request throughout the recruitment process. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
