Position Summary :
- Daily Supervision: Plan, direct, and oversee afternoon maintenance, heavy truck repairs, body repair, and new vehicle upfitting.
- Team Leadership: Lead technicians across multiple competency levels, check order statuses, give clear direction, and provide technical training and mentorship.
- Workload Management: Organize and assign incoming work orders efficiently to maximize shop throughput.
- Technical Expertise: Act as the shop’s technical expert to diagnose and complete complex, difficult problems and repairs.
- Diagnostic Software: Utilize advanced diagnostic software daily to troubleshoot complex electrical, engine, and drivetrain issues.
- Fleet Documentation: Track and log all repairs, parts, and maintenance, carefully noting active warranties.
- Driver Communication: Maintain constant, clear communication with company drivers regarding vehicle status and safety issues, professionally handling any operational breakdowns or concerns.
- Problem Solving: Exercise considerable independent judgment to solve unusual or complex mechanical and operational work problems.
- Safety & Compliance: Comply with OHSA, WHMIS, the company handbook, and all PPE policies.
Qualifications :
- Licensing: Valid 310T Truck and Coach Certification is mandatory.
- Driver's License: Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License (an AZ license is considered a strong asset).
- Experience: Proven supervisory experience and excellent leadership capabilities demonstrated within a heavy truck repair shop environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Exceptional knowledge of truck mechanics; specific experience with Mack, Volvo, Allison transmissions, and Cummins engines is highly preferred.
- Diagnostic Systems: Proficiency with Cummins INSITE, Jaltest, Detroit/Allison diagnostics, Cat ET, Eaton ServiceRanger, and JPRO.
- MTO Platforms: Practical knowledge of Ontario's digital DriveON testing system and CVOR compliance parameters is highly valued.
- Communication: High standard of fluency in English (written and verbal) to effectively present information to drivers, technicians, and internal management teams.
