Job Title: Machine Operator - Night Shift 6pm-6am
Job Summary: Working for a competitive Manufacturer of Cellulose Fiber based materials for nearly 50 years, the Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating manufacturing equipment to product quality products in accordance with production schedules, customer specifications, company procedures and the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS). They must ensure compliance with all applicable occupational health and safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in Ontario.
Organizational Status:The Machine Operator reports directly to the Lead Hand(s) and VP of Production.
The Machine Operator has the authority to:
- Stop production for safety or quality concerns.
- Report non-conforming product or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Escalate equipment or process issues affecting quality, safety, or productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate manufacturing machinery and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Set up, adjust, monitor, and troubleshoot machinery during production runs.
- Verify materials, dimensions, and production requirements prior to operation.
- Maintain required production rates while ensuring product quality standards are met.
- Complete machine changeovers, tooling adjustments, and minor equipment calibrations as required.
- Report machine malfunctions, quality concerns, and production issues promptly to supervision or maintenance personnel.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, lead hands, maintenance personnel, quality staff, and co-workers.
- Support production goals and contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
Quality Management System Compliance:
- Follow documented procedures, work instructions, quality standards, and controlled documentation within the QMS.
- Perform in-process inspections and quality checks using approved measuring tools and methods.
- Accurately complete production, inspection, traceability, and non-conformance record when instructed
- Identify, segregate, and report non-conforming materials or products.
- Participate in corrective actions, continuous improvement initiatives, and root cause investigations as required.
Health, Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulations.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices at all times.
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, hazard reporting, and incident investigations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with housekeeping and 5S standards.
- Follow environmental handling and waste disposal procedures where applicable
Academic/Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 3+ years previous experience in manufacturing or machine operation preferred.
- Experience operating industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read production planning and scheduling, measuring devices, and operating instructions.
- Forklift certification or other equipment certifications may be considered an asset.

Employment Status:
- Full time, shift (12hours) Monday – Thursday; PM shift. Hourly Position

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
