Our Opportunity
We are looking for a dependable, hands-on Installation Helper to join our team and support the successful delivery and installation of custom glass, shelving, mirrors, and closet solutions at client locations.
Position Summary:
Working closely with an experienced installer, you will play an important role in preparing materials, taking accurate measurements, documenting job details, delivering products, and ensuring each installation is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is an active, field-based position suited to someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, using tools, and working as part of a team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, organized, and takes pride in providing quality workmanship and professional service to our customers in supporting the delivery and installation of all the following products:
- Shower Glass Enclosures
- Glass panels
- Euro / Melamine Shelving
- Wire Shelving
- Mirrors
- Closet doors
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Execute the measure of products and space for installation.
- At the beginning of each shift, pull, organize, double-check, and load all required tools and products onto the vans.
- Ensure all appropriate documentation is ready for that day’s job.
- Assist the installer with completing edgework, modifications and double checking the measurements of all products
- Delivery of material and prep space for install
- Maintain inventory of all required parts and tools on the vans
- Assist in communicating and tracking damaged and returned products so items are ordered in a timely fashion and transmitted to the correct people.
- Document all measurements as Top Shelf requires and as the on-site installer directs. This includes photographs, drawings, detailed notes, tools and equipment, including top-notch supplies.
- Update Jobber by showing appropriate photos, notes, and additional details for every job daily.
- Help complete all associated paperwork with every job order before the end of each business day.
- Demonstrate competence using all required tools and machinery
- Wear appropriate clothing, including assigned PPE
- Follow all safety protocols in place both in the warehouse and in the field
- Assist with completing any safety paperwork at the beginning, during, and after every shift.
- Interfaces daily with estimators, customer service, warehouse staff, installers, other helpers and management regarding schedules and work order instructions.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Previous experience in the installation or construction field is preferred, at least 1 (one) year.
- Proficient in using hand tools and power tools such as mitre saw, impact drills, nail gun etc. according to established safety procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret floor drawings and corresponding work orders.
- Knowledge of various installation techniques.
- Familiarity with caulking is a must, and restoration techniques are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- First Aid training certificate and Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) is an advantage or plus.
- Trade Tickets or any Carpentry experience is an advantage or plus.
- Complete the work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed.
- Driving Licence (min Class 5 required)
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces as well as climb ladders and stairs.
- Standing for frequent periods and sitting occasionally, including driving.
- Occasional bending and twisting are required as is prolonged neck positioning.
- Lower extremity movements – kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
- Frequent upper extremity movements (elbows, forearm, wrist, handgrip), with some above shoulder work
- Operate various machines and equipment, including vehicles, trucks, forklifts, etc.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships with staff, clients, suppliers, etc.
