About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and professional Companion Caregiver to support an older adult living with dementia. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, dependable, and passionate about helping others maintain an active, fulfilling, and dignified lifestyle.
The successful candidate will provide companionship, assist with scheduling and transportation, encourage healthy routines, and act as a trusted support person while maintaining professional boundaries and working collaboratively with the family.
This position requires excellent judgment, strong communication skills, discretion, and the ability to adapt to the changing needs of someone living with cognitive impairment.
Key ResponsibilitiesCalendar & Appointment Management
- Manage and maintain a daily calendar.
- Schedule and confirm appointments.
- Coordinate transportation and accompany the client to appointments.
- Communicate upcoming appointments and schedule changes with the family.
Health & Wellness
- Encourage healthy daily routines.
- Accompany the client to the gym, walks, and other approved physical activities.
- Encourage hydration and healthy eating. Shopping and light meal prep
- Observe and communicate any changes in mood, cognition, mobility, or overall well-being.
Social & Community Engagement
- Encourage meaningful social interaction and community involvement.
- Plan enjoyable activities that align with the client's interests and energy level.
- Support independence while recognizing when additional rest or a quieter day is needed.
Transportation
- Safely transport the client to appointments, errands, and approved activities.
- Maintain a valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle. *A car is required, mileage is compensated*
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
