Chemistry analyst
Near North Lab Inc. provides a wide range of environmental services and specializes in microbiological and chemical analysis of drinking water and waste water. Located in North Bay, Ontario, Near North Lab is also an accredited laboratory testing provider.
Near North Lab is seeking a chemistry analyst. The selected candidate will perform tasks related chemical and physical analyses.
Role definition
The chemistry analyst will analyze and report results of various sample matrices, perform chemical and physical testing, perform a variety of analytical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility, and perform other related work as required.
Main functions
- Perform chemical testing via ion chromatography and continuous flow analyzer (SKALAR) as well as other general benchtop methods
- Analysis and reporting of analytical data
- Conducting project specific analysis at chemistry workstation as per client request
- Calculating and evaluating test results for fitness
- Basic instrument troubleshooting and maintenance
- Preparation of samples, reagents and chemical standards
- Maintain records and logs of laboratory operational data including but not limited to analytical data, statistical data, repair records, chemical and sample preparation logs and QA/QA logs
- Perform secondary laboratory support functions including but not limited to sample logging, washing lab apparatus, assisting with field work and other duties as assigned
Minimum training and experience
- Technical degree or diploma in chemistry, environmental science or equivalent
- Intermediate computer and mathematical skills required
- Experience in field water testing is an asset.

Position details
- One (1) year contract
- On-site position.
- 40 hours/week during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Employee benefits after a 3-month probationary period.
- Starting date: September or October 2026.
- Pay rate: TBD.
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
