CanBiocin’s small but mighty team is looking to welcome a hands‑on Research Technologist to a company of people who love what they do. You’ll report to the Senior Scientist and work closely with QA and Production; together, you’ll bring technical precision, curiosity, and steady problem‑solving to the bench so we can reliably advance our product development

Your Role in Our Success
- Perform routine microbiology and molecular biology workflows: aseptic technique, plating, streaking, CFU/plate counts, MPN, Gram staining, microscopy, and routine identifications.
- Prepare media, reagents, buffers and sterile solutions; maintain accurate preparation logs and batch records.
- Support fermentations and benchtop bioreactors: inoculum preparation, process setup, real‑time monitoring, aseptic sampling, harvest and basic downstream handling.
- Execute viability and potency assays for probiotic strains.
- Perform molecular assays and basic sequencing prep; follow established protocols and troubleshooting steps.
- Conduct routine QC testing, in‑process samples and finished product per SOPs; report results accurately and promptly.
- Maintain strain and sample inventories, perform cryopreservation and strain banking activities under documented procedures.
- Assist with formulation, blending and small‑batch production runs; follow customer specifications and batch documentation practices.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and incubators, perform routine calibrations and cleaning, log maintenance and escalate repairs.
- Operate sterilization equipment (autoclave), manage waste handling and ensure proper decontamination procedures.
What Makes You a Great Fit?
- B.Sc. (Microbiology, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology) or a technical diploma in a related discipline.
- 1-2+ years’ practical laboratory experience in microbiology / molecular biology, biotech or similar settings.
- Practical, hands‑on mindset - you enjoy working at the bench and take pride in careful, reproducible lab work.
- Strong attention to detail and record‑keeping -you catch small mistakes before they become problems.
- Team player and communicator - you collaborate across R&D, QA, Production and Supply Chain and keep stakeholders informed.
- Experience with basic molecular techniques (PCR/qPCR, gel electrophoresis) or clear evidence of rapid aptitude to learn these methods.
- Familiarity with standard lab equipment (incubators, autoclave, spectrophotometers) and routine maintenance practices.
- Commitment to following SOPs, safety protocols, and quality systems.
