Horvath Contracting is looking for an Apprentice Carpenter who already has some hands-on renovation experience and is ready to continue building a career in residential construction.
You don't need to know everything—but you should already be comfortable using common construction tools, enjoy physical work, and have a genuine desire to learn. Whether your experience comes from previous employment, helping with a family business, renovating with friends or family, or working on your own projects, we're looking for someone who has discovered that they genuinely enjoy building.
You'll work alongside experienced/Red Seal carpenters on large renovations, custom homes, and ICF foundations throughout the West Kootenays, taking on meaningful responsibilities from day one while continuing to develop your skills.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assisting carpenters and crew leads on active residential construction projects
- Site preparation, demolition, cleanup, and material handling
- Cutting materials and assisting with framing and general carpentry
- Safely operating common hand and power tools
- Completing deliveries, material pickups, and dump runs
- Maintaining clean, organized, and safe job sites
- Learning new construction skills while helping projects stay on schedule
What We're Looking For
- Previous hands-on renovation or construction experience is required—whether professionally, through a family business, or personal renovation projects
- Comfortable and confident using common hand and power tools
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record
- Reliable transportation to various job sites
- Experience driving a truck and trailer is a strong asset
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to work hard
- Positive attitude and ability to work well with others
- Curious, coachable, and willing to ask questions when something is unfamiliar

While our immediate hiring priority is an Apprentice Carpenter, we're always interested in connecting with experienced carpenters who share our values.
If you're a Journeyperson or experienced Carpenter with leadership experience, experience in foundations, excavation, footings, or heavy equipment operation, we'd still love to hear from you. Although we aren't actively hiring for these positions today, we're always interested in meeting exceptional people for future opportunities.
Pay: $22.00-$27.00 per hour
