Job Overview
Pace Processing is seeking an experienced and highly organized Logistics Coordinator to join our team in Surrey, BC.
The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day movement of finished goods, ingredients, packaging, and other materials while ensuring shipments and deliveries are completed accurately and on time.
This position will play a key role in coordinating FTL (Full Truckload) and LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) shipments, working with carriers, warehouses, customers, and internal departments to support an efficient and reliable supply chain.
We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years of logistics experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple shipments and priorities, and communicating with customers, carriers, warehouses, and internal teams.
Experience in food manufacturing is considered a strong asset. Previous experience working with major retail customers such as Loblaw, Save-On-Foods, Circle K, or similar large retail/grocery customers is also considered a strong asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily inbound and outbound shipments to ensure products and materials are delivered accurately and on time.
- Coordinate FTL and LTL shipments with carriers, customers, warehouses, and internal teams.
- Schedule carrier pickups and delivery appointments based on customer and operational requirements.
- Coordinate shipments to major grocery, retail, distribution centre, and customer locations.
- Communicate with transportation carriers regarding pickup times, delivery appointments, delays, shipment status, and changes.
- Track shipments from pickup through delivery and proactively address delays or transportation issues.
- Coordinate inter-facility transfers between Pace Processing locations.
- Work closely with Shipping & Receiving teams to ensure orders are prepared, staged, and ready for scheduled pickups.
- Communicate daily priorities and transportation requirements to Shipping, Receiving, Transfer, Production, and Warehouse teams.
- Review customer orders and shipping requirements to ensure deadlines and delivery expectations are met.
- Prepare, review, and maintain shipping and transportation documentation.
- Ensure Bills of Lading (BOLs), shipping documents, transfer records, and other required documentation are complete and accurate.
- Coordinate delivery appointments and ensure customer-specific shipping requirements are followed.
- Communicate with customers and distribution centres regarding appointments, changes, delays, or delivery concerns.
- Assist with resolving rejected, delayed, short, damaged, or missed deliveries.
- Investigate shipping discrepancies and coordinate corrective action with the appropriate departments.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, deliveries, transfers, and transportation activities.
- Work closely with Production and Operations to understand upcoming requirements and coordinate transportation accordingly.
- Work with Purchasing regarding incoming materials, supplier deliveries, and urgent transportation requirements.
- Coordinate with third-party carriers and transportation providers as required.
- Obtain freight quotes and assist with selecting appropriate transportation options based on cost, service, and delivery requirements.
- Monitor transportation costs and identify opportunities to improve freight efficiency.
- Assist with consolidating shipments and optimizing FTL/LTL usage where possible.
- Monitor customer requirements and ensure shipments meet applicable routing and delivery guidelines.
- Maintain strong communication with internal departments, customers, carriers, and external partners.
- Support inventory accuracy by ensuring product movements and transfers are properly documented.
- Assist with logistics reporting and tracking key performance indicators as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve transportation, shipping, scheduling, and logistics processes.
- Support the Logistics, Shipping, Receiving, and Transfer teams as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of logistics, transportation, distribution, shipping, or supply chain experience is required.
- Strong experience coordinating FTL and LTL transportation is required.
- Experience scheduling pickups, deliveries, and transportation appointments.
- Experience working directly with carriers, transportation companies, warehouses, and customers.
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment is a strong asset.
- Experience working with major retail/grocery customers such as Loblaw, Save-On-Foods, Circle K, or similar organizations is a strong asset.
- Understanding of retail and distribution centre shipping requirements is an asset.
- Strong understanding of Bills of Lading and shipping/transportation documentation.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and related business systems.
- Experience with ERP, WMS, TMS, inventory, or logistics software is an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple shipments, deadlines, and changing operational requirements.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple departments.
