Job Summary:
Fresh Taste Produce is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Associate to join our operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible performing day-to-day maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of facility equipment and infrastructure. This includes preventive maintenance, basic refrigeration work, equipment repairs, and general facility upkeep. The role requires hands-on technical skills, attention to safety and compliance, and the ability to respond to maintenance needs in a timely and effective manner. The Maintenance Mechanic will also coordinate with vendors, support documentation through the CMMS system, and work closely with other departments to maintain smooth operations across the facility.
Job Duties
- Perform basic refrigeration maintenance, including cleaning evaporators, replacing UV filters, and monitoring temperature levels.
- Conduct routine maintenance on forklifts and Raymond BTs, handling minor mechanical repairs.
- Repair and maintain dock levelers, bay doors, and other facility structures.
- Carry out general maintenance tasks such as drilling, grinding, and light fabrication.
- Respond to maintenance requests related to structural or equipment issues in a timely manner.
- Inspect facility and equipment for safety and functionality, report major issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Monitor and manage third-party service work, ensuring quality and proper documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for parts, service calls, and repairs.
- Manage work orders and documentation through the CMMS system.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring all equipment is in good repair.
- Support compliance with food safety standards and company maintenance protocols.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of maintenance experience in a warehouse, industrial, or similar facility environment
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, refrigeration, and electrical systems
- Experience maintaining forklifts, dock equipment, and general facility infrastructure
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to manage work orders
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical diagrams, and safety protocols
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools for general maintenance tasks (e.g., drilling, grinding, light fabrication)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and experience working with vendors and contractors
- Solid understanding of workplace safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical training or certifications are an asset
