Your role with us:
Reporting to the Senior Technology Engineer, Instrumentation, the Embedded Systems Developer is responsible for prototyping and developing firmware solutions that integrate into embedded hardware designs of mechanical tools for the purpose of instrumentation and automation. The Embedded Systems Developer is responsible for full lifecycle development, from concept firmware development to final bench testing, while collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
You will bring to the role:
- Minimum 5 years of experience demonstrating strong embedded programming skills in C/C++, with practical experience writing firmware for ARM-based microcontrollers and integrating with real-time operating systems.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and enhancing embedded wireless communication application architecture and protocol functionality for Bluetooth and Zigbee enabled systems for commercial products.
- Experience developing and optimizing embedded C/C++ applications, including firmware development, debugging, and performance tuning on microcontrollers.
- Understanding of hardware troubleshooting and low-level data processing is a strong asset.
- Experience using version control systems and participating in collaborative development workflows and code reviews. Working knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and timing-sensitive programming.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical concepts and trade-offs.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed organization alongside software, hardware, controls, and operations teams.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced development environment while maintaining quality standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct independent research, evaluate trade-offs, and drive technical decisions with limited oversight.
