POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a Youth Leader in the Greater Edmonton Area area to help run fun, active, and meaningful summer programs for children and youth in the community.
As a Youth Leader, you will:
- Work with Community Program Leaders to run games, sports, and outdoor activities
- Help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment
- Be active, outdoors, and part of a supportive team
This is a great opportunity if you enjoy working with kids, being active, and learning new skills.
YOUTH LEADER POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Regional Coordinator, under the day-to-day guidance of the Community Program Leaders, this is how your summer experience will work.
Work Experience
You will:
- Work directly with program leaders
- Help run real programs with kids and youth
- Build confidence and hands-on experience
What You’ll Do
- Help lead games, sports, crafts, and outdoor activities (including seasonal activities like canoeing, skiing where applicable)
- Support younger children and encourage participation
- Help with set-up and clean-up
- Follow safety rules and ask for help when needed
- Work as part of a team

- You like being active and outdoors
- You treat others with respect
No previous work experience is required.
Other Requirements
- Must be able to participate in training before the program starts
- Must be able to work the entirety of the summer
- Must be willing to obtain standard first aid certification if required for the position (at own expense).
- Successful applicants may be required to provide a satisfactory Police Record Check. Vulnerable Sector Screening may be required where legally available and role-appropriate, generally for applicants 18 years of age or older.
- Must follow all program rules and safety guidelines

- Indoor and outdoor work (rain or shine)
- Active role (moving, playing, leading activities)
- Work locations may vary and may include travel

Established in 2017, Spirit North is a national charitable organization dedicated to empowering and inspiring Indigenous children and youth through sport and play. Our vision is health, wellness and a brighter future for all Indigenous children and youth.
Programs are developed and delivered in collaboration and partnership with communities for the purpose of improving physical and mental health, increasing community engagement, and building sustainable sport and recreation programs.
