POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Director supports the Director in the leadership, administration, and delivery of child intervention and family enhancement programs and services for Tsuut'ina Nation Child and Family Services Society. Working within the context of Tsuut'ina culture and in accordance with the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act (CYFEA), the position provides operational leadership, staff supervision, and strategic support to ensure services are delivered in accordance with legislation, agency policies, and professional practice standards. The Associate Director provides leadership in the Director's absence, supports provincial and federal initiatives, mentors supervisory staff, and works collaboratively with Tsuut'ina Nation departments and community partners to strengthen culturally responsive, wrap-around services for children, youth, and families.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Leadership and Operational Management– support the Director in the overall leadership and administration of agency programs and services. Provide day-to-day operational leadership across intake, ongoing intervention, and programs. Act on behalf of the Director and exercise delegated statutory authority under the CYFEA. Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of agency policies, procedures, performance standards, business plans, and strategic initiatives. Participate in the preparation of annual service budgets, funding submissions, agency service plans, and evaluation documents. Submit monthly operational reports and service statistics.
· Supervision and Staff Development– supervise Casework Supervisors and support the recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, and discipline of staff. Mentor and develop delegated staff. Foster a positive, culturally grounded workplace and provide leadership, guidance, and support to staff.
· Casework Oversight and Quality Assurance– conduct file quality reviews to ensure compliance. Review and process Delegation of Authority decisions. Ensure documentation, case notes, and reports are accurate, timely, and complete. Support staff in delivering services that protect the rights, well-being, and best interests of children, youth, and families.
· Community, Government, and Board Relations– represent TNCFSS in provincial and federal discussions, committees, working groups, and community events. Collaborate with departments to strengthen wrap-around services. Attend Board meetings, when requested, and support operational reporting. Develop and maintain partnerships within the Nation, Treaty 7, and external organizations.
· Organizational Responsibilities– maintain working knowledge of agency agreements, legislation, and funding requirements. Perform all duties consistent with the Society's Mission, Vision, and Values.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
· Desired Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
o Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) preferred, or a related human services degree.
o Minimum of four (4) years of experience in human services, including supervisory experience.
o Delegation Certification Training.
o Training in Signs of Safety, Family Group Conferencing, and Conflict Resolution.
o Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policy standards, court processes, and legal authorities directly related to child intervention practice.
o Knowledge of Tsuut'ina Nation culture, language, community protocols, governance, and treaty-based policies.

· General Employment Requirements:
o Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, reliable transportation with Two (2) Million Liability Insurance.
