Absolute Heavy Duty / Keabray is a fast-growing, family-run company providing industry-leading Heavy Duty Repair and Transport/Logistics services across Central Alberta. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a full-time Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic with strong engine experience to join our team.

Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on both customer equipment and our growing fleet of heavy trucks and trailers. The ideal candidate will be experienced, reliable, and committed to high-quality work. We are also willing to train the right apprentice who shows strong initiative and mechanical aptitude.
Service truck work to our Dawson shop will be available from time to time.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, engine, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and software.
- Complete engine repair and troubleshooting with confidence and accuracy.
- Conduct preventive maintenance including fluid services, lubrication, adjustments, and component replacement.
- Efficiently troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed.
- Prioritize tasks and collaborate with the team to ensure timely job completion.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Valid Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification.
- Strong engine repair and diagnostic experience (required).
- 2+ years as a Journeyman or similar role preferred.
- Proficient with diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, braking systems, driveline components, and hydraulics.
- Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
- Experience with manufacturer-specific diagnostic programs is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and pride in workmanship.
- Capable of working independently and within a team environment.
- Willingness to perform mobile repairs using a service truck when required.
- Apprentices with strong mechanical aptitude are encouraged to apply.
