Position Summary
We are currently seeking a caring and dependable Cantonese or Tagalog -speaking
Caregiver/Health Care Aide to support a client living with advanced dementia. The
successful candidate will have patience, empathy, and experience supporting individuals
with cognitive impairment, including sundowning and wandering behaviours.
Experience working with dementia clients is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care while maintaining the client's dignity and privacy.
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and bathroom hygiene.
- Support safe mobility and transfers as required.
- Provide supervision to ensure client safety, particularly during periods of confusion, wandering, or sundowning.
- Prepare light meals and assist with feeding if required.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including: laundry, making the bed, tidying the client's living areas, kitchen clean-up
- Provide companionship and engage the client in meaningful conversation and activities appropriate to their abilities.
- Observe and report changes in the client's condition to the Care Coordinator.
- Maintain accurate visit documentation.
Qualifications
- Fluent in Cantonese or Tagalog (required).
- Health Care Aide Certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
- Previous experience caring for individuals with dementia is strongly preferred.
- Experience providing personal care in a home care, long-term care, or assisted living setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, compassionate, and patient.
- Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (or willingness to obtain one).
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification is an asset.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Available Shifts
This is a casual position with a combination of weekday and weekend shifts.
Typical shift options include:
- 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM
- 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Split shifts may also be available, including:
- 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
